Water Damage Residential

Water is amazing stuff, that is, when it’s where it’s supposed to be. Water that leaks because of a broken pipe, leaking hot water heater or any kind of water damage emergency can cause real problems if it is not dried up quickly and properly.

Some people with water damage think that they can dry the walls or carpet with no extra help. BE CAREFUL! Water damage that is not fully eliminated may create the perfect breeding ground for black toxic mold that will cause damages far worse than just the water leak itself may have caused. Dry Jack uses a “tornadic Vortex System” to fully dry even the worst water damaged areas. We also work magic to save your Hardwood floors.

After the water is gone Dry Jack can replace or repair any walls or ceilings as well as damages behind your walls professionally.

And remember, we deal with your insurance company directly. We have pre negotiated rates so we can begin working as soon as we arrive, If you have a water damage emergency anywhere in metro Atlanta, our crews can be at your home within the hour, 24/7/365.

What to do?

  3. Turn off the breakers and all power sources to water damaged areas
  4. Call Dry Jack 770-365-5508!! We will be on site within the hour and we will deal with your insurance company for you.
  5. Pick up any items you can, raise up furniture onto wood blocks if possible, pin up draperies.
  6. Take a deep breath because Dry Jack is on the way!

What to do before our experts arrive:

  1. If you have had a plumbing emergency, turn off the water. If your pipes have burst or are frozen, turn off the water at the street as well as inside the home.
  2. Turn off Circuit Breakers and all power to the affected rooms or areas.
  3. Turn on air conditioning for faster drying if it is warm outside. Use the dehumidify setting if possible.
  4. Get your furniture up off of the carpet or flooring and up onto wooden blocks. If you cannot raise furniture on blocks at least put some aluminum foil between the legs and the carpet. This keeps the wood from staining the carpet or the carpet staining the wood.
  5. Pick up anything you can. Move any furniture possible to a dry area, Leave as little as possible on the floor of the wet areas.
  6. Wipe down wooden Furniture of all moisture.
  7. Remove wet upholstered cushions. Prop them up to enable air to circulate on all sides.
  8. Pin up draperies, you can use coat hangers to suspend them from the curtain rods.
  9. Remove colored area rugs from wet carpeting. Hang them up or send them to a professional cleaner.

Things to be aware of:

  1. Most ordinary household vacuum cleaners are not designed to remove water. It can be very dangerous to attempt this.
  2. Wet carpet or floors can conduct electricity. Do NOT use electrical appliances while standing on wet floors.
  3. Ensure all the electricity is turned off before entering rooms where water is standing; it could carry a shock.

Water Damage Prevention Tips:

  1. Look over your washing machine hoses frequently-replace if suspect.
  2. Ensure you have your drains and outlets inspected by a professional plumber regularly-at least every five years.
  3. Carefully inspect your roof annually for any signs of trouble-early spring are a good time.
